The Art Of Giving
Giving is best when it comes from your heart. Don’t give just because you were told to — we give a gift because we feel the recipient will truly appreciate it. When picking a gift for someone, it is sentimental to do one of two things: put yourself in their shoes and sincerely think about that person’s interests, or give them something that means a lot to you in an effort to share a piece of yourself.
For those who are creative, you can express your talents by giving a handmade card, piece of art, or jewelry. Each is a one-of-a-kind token that can never be replaced. Remember, it is not the size of the gift that counts as much as the gift. Always be thoughtful.
Giving of Ourselves
The truest form of giving and being generous is simply by offering ourselves. We could all be a little kinder, a little nicer, and offer what we can to help others. There are also charitable things we can do, such as volunteering at a hospital or shelter, or for any charity.
Simple acts of kindness, such as holding the door open for the next person or saying good morning can go a long way. These small actions are some of the easiest ways to give back.
Giving to Ourselves
It is shocking how hard it is for some of us to do for ourselves what we do for others. People should treat themselves as well as they treat their loved ones, children, and pets. Some are so selfless they will put their dogs or cats before them. We’ll give our puppy a special treat, but not one for ourselves.
Try this: each day, do one nice thing for yourself. It doesn’t have to be anything big, it could be as simple as a piece of chocolate, or going to the gym, taking time for a nature walk or a moment to breathe and think. Whatever calls to you, do it, you deserve it!
