Letting Go
If we want to grow, we have to let go. Holding onto things: grudges, the past, mistakes, all of it can be toxic. Similar to how people are pack rats or hoard things they don’t need, we tend to do that with our feelings or memories.
If it isn’t benefiting you, if it isn’t helping you in any way, get rid of it. Just like those boxes of old linens in the attic – you don’t want to throw them away because you might just use them one day – but all they’re doing is collecting dust and taking up space. Think about what bitterness and situations you’re holding on to – do you really need them in your life? Or are they just taking up space in your mind and soul that could be better used for good?
Forgiveness is a major part of letting go. It’s not enough to put the past behind you, it’s necessary to make amends with your troubles to really be free of them. All malice, spite, anger or problems you have with yourself and others need to be washed from your future. Leave it in the past and continue with a new present.
